MODEST MARINE | A Cinematic WWII Short Film About Iwo Jima and an American Marine

Some stories are written. Others are remembered.

I just completed the second book trailer for Modest Marine — a cinematic silent short film honoring my grandfather’s life, service, sacrifice, and legacy.

Using real family photographs, archival inspiration, AI-enhanced imagery, and cinematic storytelling, this film follows his journey from the children of Italian immigrants arriving through Ellis Island… to boot camp… to the Pacific… to the black sands of Iwo Jima with the 4th Marine Division… and finally back home to build a life, a family, and memories that would last generations.

This wasn’t just about creating a trailer for a book.
It was about preserving a life.
A generation.
A quiet kind of heroism.

The ending image of him walking through the Pacific camps one last time feels less like goodbye and more like memory itself fading into history.

Modest Marine is my attempt to tell that story through both words and cinema.

For my grandfather.
For the Marines beside him.
For the families who carried those stories home.
